Up for sale here is my 2001 PRS core line CE22 with SIGNIFICANT mods, also please note that the original PRS hard case and trem arm are included in the sale. The original parts of the guitar are the mahogany and flamed maple body, the maple neck with rosewood fretboard, the bridge and trem block, knobs, nut and jack socket etc.
Below is a list of the upgrades. 1 The original tuners that were a very clever design but tricky to work with have been replaced with Sperzel locking tuners which are made in Germany and super high quality and great to use. 2 The pickups have been replaced with Bare Knuckle Nailbombs, which are alnico 5, fairly high output pickups; it is my understanding that these are Bare Knuckle's answer to the Seymour Duncan JB type level and sound.Having tried possibly 4 different sets of humbuckers over the years, these absolutely kill it in this guitar. 3 The original saddles had worn through to the brass underneath (through normal use, skin oils and sweat from palm muting and other stuff like that wearing the finishing off) so they have been replaced with brand new PRS replacement saddles, directly from the PRS store. 4 The entire wiring has been re-done, replacing the 5 way rotary switch with a Switchcraft 3 three way switch with a custom wooden tip, CBS pots, orange drop cap, etc. 5 I have put a small wooden block behind the trem so that it doesn't move, this is what is referred to as "blocking off the trem", I do this for two reasons, firstly because I don't use the trem and this allows the guitar to have very good tuning stability, and secondly because the physical connection between the brass trem block and the wood of the body adds a bit more depth and resonance to the sound.
However, to undo this mod, it is as simple as slackening the strings, and pulling the wooden block out - fully reversible. It is worth noting that this as a core line CE22 from back when the CE22 guitars were done properly. For all PRS' improvements, they have stepped back on their recent CEs, removing the nice touches like the carved dips around the knobs as an example. This one is from the era when the difference between the Custom 22 and the CE22 was that the CE22 had a bolt on neck, but the body material, carve, shape and all other appointments were of the same standard as the Custom 22. It is important to note that this guitar has been played, it's a gigging guitar and looks that way, it has dents, marks, chips, etc, all visible in the photos, however I hope you can tell from the modifications explained above that it is a WORKING guitar, it has been maintained and DIALLED IN. If it were a car, it would be a beaten up Jaguar, with a bloody rocket engine in it. So, it is in perfect working order, however aesthetically it is not in pristine or unused condition - there are signs of use, some marks, signs of play, tarnishing on the metal parts etc, the odd mark or small dent in the finish of the nature that a 22 year old guitar is likely to have when it has been played a lot; but as I have said, it has all new working parts where it counts and has been properly dialled in.As mentioned above, original PRS hard case and trem arm included.
