Eddie Van Halen tribute wide nut guitar. To get the wider neck I converted this 12 string guitar, and because it comprised an EVH type Wolfgang body, and I carved the head shape to have the EVH shape. The body is made of a single slab of mahogany with a flamed maple cap. (As promised: I have now received the cream felt washers and fitted them under the strap buttons, see photos).

O stop it being too lush and fruity I orientated the live coil to face down south, so it collects the tighter harmonics from the bridge side... I have finished an initial rough set up and cut the string grooves lower in the nut (see photo 7), but I have not finished all the fret dressing and a couple have a slight burr when you twang hard.

The flame inlay was properly done by the luthier who fitted the neck to the body and filled the trem cavity for the bridge. The rectangular logo on the head is partially inset so I didn't try to remove it.

Back of the neck profile is not super slim like an Ibanez wizard 2; this is more like a vintage telecaster, though the fingerboard radius is more like a flatter Ibanez profile; remember that to get the extra width for large fingers we used a neck that originally had twelve strings on it. The strings are still settling in, but it is still possible I might change to a set of Ernie Balls before I post the guitar.

I split the tuners, with gold one side and black the other... Where the high E is a fine Jackson tuner and the G is Schecter. I used black rubber washers for the strap buttons because I could not find my cream felt ones, but I have ordered a packet now and will change them when those arrive. I wish Eddie was still around to see his guitars have fans out there!
